EXHIBITION: Is it gold, or perhaps a dream? The art of goldsmithing is indeed the art of dreaming. A joyful instant, open to the transformation of materials and emotions, following an unbroken tradition dedicated to the pursuit of true beauty which traces its origins back in time. The project celebrating the aspects of jewelry conception, design and production, was born from the encounter of Laura Santamaria (artist, designer Butterfly Forever) and Giorgio Caffi (goldsmith, designer) during their shared journey in goldsmith training.

LECTURE: Laura Santamaria, artist and designer, takes the audience on an enlightening journey into the realm of goldsmithing and precious stones, offering insights from both aesthetic and historical perspectives. She showcases notable examples of jewelry that have left an indelible mark on our collective imagination throughout history. She articulates how her creative process is deeply influenced by the world of art, often finding its origins in the exquisite jewelry collections cherished within museums.

LIVE PERFORMANCE:In the gallery spaces provided for this event, visitors will have the unique opportunity to observe the craftsmanship up close, right at the workbench. Giorgio Caffi will personally create jewelry pieces, offering the public an intimate glimpse into the practical aspects typically reserved for the workshop. He will intricately explain the nuances of each stage of the jewelry-making process and engage in open dialogue with attendees, readily addressing questions and curiosities. This experience provides a rare chance to witness the complete production of a jewelry piece, executed with traditional techniques, from inception to realization.

The project celebrating the aspects of jewelry conception, design and production, was born from the encounter of Laura Santamaria (artist, designer Butterfly Forever) and Giorgio Caffi (goldsmith, designer) during their shared journey in goldsmith training. The synergy created within the program leads the teachers, who already have independent professional experience under their belt, to a collaboration and collection of jewelry which they will present for the first time during the Milano Jewelry Week at Key Gallery.
