JAMES RIVIÈRE

GIOIELLI IN TITANIO:PASSIONE DAL 1971
Via Brera, 2
Exhibition
17 – 22 Oct. | h. 3pm – 6:30pm

The JEWELRY EXHIBITION explores the myriad possibilities inherent in the material titanium. Since as far back as 1971, titanium has frequented the goldsmith’s workshop of J. Rivière. Its qualities, including its lightness, hardness, and remarkable iridescence, convinced that it could serve as a novel material to create jewelry that embodies youth, strength, and modernity. Through a series of experiments, a range of rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and brooches were meticulously crafted, possessing a degree of luminosity and novelty previously unseen. Over the course of more than 50 years, this enchanting material has garnered the attention of many and has been embraced by various artisans, although its full potential hasn’t always been grasped. Titanium, with its astonishing diversity of hues, can rival traditional enamels in terms of vibrancy while retaining a robustness that enamels lack. This “magical metal” possesses a self-supporting nature, allowing it to be bent and even welded, opening up a world of artistic possibilities.
