Via Maurizio Gonzaga, 2
Exhibition

BABS Art Gallery is proud to host its second event dedicated to GianCarlo Montebello, a renowned publisher and master in the realm of precious ornamentation. In April’s exhibition, the focus was on the remarkable era of GEM Montebello: from 1967 to 1978, GianCarlo and Teresa Pomodoro collaborated with over 50 internationally acclaimed artists, producing nearly 200 limited edition multiple jewelry pieces. This extraordinary journey achieved worldwide acclaim. However, it came to an abrupt end in 1978 when the entire collection was stolen. Following profound personal reflection on this incident, Montebello decided to transition from being a publisher to an author, venturing into a new realm: Body Ornaments. From the 1980s until his passing, Montebello collaborated with skilled goldsmith artisans and made significant contributions to the theoretical discourse surrounding jewelry, creating numerous signature B.O. collections.
