The Irene Belfi gallery presents the personal exhibition of the Swiss artist Fabrice Schaefer. According to Schaefer, a jewel cannot be defined as such except when it’s touching the skin; the ring on the finger is a sign of belonging, the expression of a particular intimacy or a memory, a gift or a union. For Schaefer, excellence in a ring means being able to master all the complexities and difficulties involved in creating and producing it. By harmonizing dimensions and design, volume and weight, material and colour, everything must blend together to create a perfect balance. Elements such as the circle, light and transformation are the basis of the artist’s work and skilfully combining titanium and diamonds, gold and rust, white gold and niello, Schaefer, as an ardent alchemist, creates elegant wearable works with a strong and unmistakable character. Two disciplines such as art and contemporary jewelry, so close but often considered distant, will come into contact to create a new and unusual dialogue.
