A series of “liturgical” or “devotional” ornaments and jewels referring to a spirituality and religious sensitivity silenced for millennia but always present. A creative act of devotion to the forms of life, understood as immanent divinity. The Goddess is invoked as a tutelary deity: the Goddess of Life and her forms, her fruits, her children. A collection of unique pieces, a series of jewels modeled by hand from polyurethane foam and lost-wax casting in bronze, silver and gold. The oxidation patinas add chromatic shades to the metals. The highly irregular surfaces suggest time, organicity and telluric spontaneity. A kaleidoscope of structures and elements to suggest the sanctity of the world as it ferments, tingles, flourishes. The pieces are metaphors of an inverse spirituality, which celebrates the world and life, through the wonder of the infinite forms of living beings, in a fantastic “zoology”.

About Lorenzo Pepe

Born in Milan in 1969, he has been living in Formentera, Spain, since 1997. For many years he has been developing formal research on the design of living beings, applying it to jewelery and the plastic arts. His work is strongly influenced by marine life and the Mediterranean environment. He tries to express a certain “presence” or “sacredness” of life in all its manifestations, particularly evident in the simplest forms: mosses, lichens, sponges, diatoms, radiolarians …
